Kids Martial Arts Gloucester – The Be a Star Programme

At Kids Martial Arts Gloucester, we are always looking for powerful ways to help children understand the importance of their choices.
So we created something special.
We built a demonstration device called The Champions Response Reactor.
This fun visual experiment helps children see how their responses to situations can change the outcome of their actions.
And through our Be a Star Programme, one of our students gets the opportunity to demonstrate this lesson in their own school.
What Is the Be a Star Programme?
The Be a Star Programme is a leadership opportunity offered through our Kids Martial Arts Gloucester Champions Character programme.
When a child is doing well in class — showing focus, respect, and effort — they may be invited to become the Star of the Day.
The student can then invite their instructor to visit their school and deliver a short personal development lesson to their class.
The exciting part?
The student helps deliver the lesson.
They stand in front of their classmates and demonstrate the experiment using The Champions Response Reactor.
For many children, this becomes their first experience of leading and speaking confidently in front of others.
The Champions Response Reactor
The highlight of the lesson is our demonstration device called The Champions Response Reactor.
Here’s how it works.
Clean water is poured into a funnel at the top of the reactor.
The water then flows down to a switch — what we call The Champions Switch.
The student then flicks the switch.
If the switch goes one way, the water flows through a bottle containing muddy water and pours into a glass below looking dirty.
But if the switch goes the other way, the water flows through a clean bottle and pours into the glass perfectly clear.
We then ask the class one simple question:
“Which one would you rather drink?”
Every child chooses the clean water.
That’s when the powerful lesson becomes clear.

Life doesn’t control your response.
Your response controls your life.
Just like the switch in the reactor, we all have a switch inside us.
We cannot always control what happens to us.
But we can always control how we respond.
This is one of the core lessons taught in our Kids Martial Arts Gloucester Champions Character programme.

At Kids Martial Arts Gloucester, we teach far more than martial arts techniques.

Schools receive a free personal development session that supports important educational goals such as:
• personal responsibility
• emotional control
• positive decision making
• leadership and respect
